CMES Public Education Project - Workshops

The Center for Middle Eastern Studies is active both on and off campus in its goal of enhancing public knowledge of the Middle East and Islamic world. The Public Education Project manages all outreach programs and cooperates with cultural and religious organizations, diplomatic circles, businesses, the media and educational institutions.

Teacher Training Workshops

Our workshops provide forums for secondary-level teachers and educators to discuss important aspects of teaching about the Middle East and Islamic world. There are currently two lesson plans available for download in Acrobat format on our resources page.

Curriculum workshops

These workshop series are for post-secondary level educators. Topics include pedagogy, materials and technology. Each workshop results in the production of a packet of resources for teachers to use in the classroom. The workshops also involve various levels of student contribution. For information on participation, please contact Rusty Rook (773) 702-8296 rrook@midway.uchicago.edu
